Every phone you have ever owned has a thin black edge around the display. Look at the bottom of your screen right now and you will see it. Tecno brought a working phone to IFA Berlin with that edge gone, and we got to hold it.

The screen runs right into the metal frame with nothing in between

There is no visible black border on any side of the display, so apps, video and menus stretch fully edge to edge. Android Authority’s Adamya Sharma compared the effect to an infinity pool, where the water seems to run straight off the side. Content looks slightly zoomed in compared to what you’re used to. For reference, the iPhone 17 Pro Max has 1.36mm bezels, which suddenly look thick next to this.

The bezel is still there, just hidden under a second sheet of glass

Tecno didn’t shrink the black border. It covered it. The phone uses two layers of cover glass, and the lower layer wraps around the midframe so it conceals the inactive edge of the panel along with the circuitry behind it.

Building it meant putting the screen in backwards

Normal phones get their display fitted from the front. Tecno had to invert the whole process and insert the screen module from the rear, then use a custom hot-melt adhesive to hold the second glass layer in place from the front side. The panel itself is a 6.78-inch flexible OLED at 1.5K resolution with a 144Hz refresh rate.

The frame sits higher than usual and it snags your thumb

Removing the border means removing the flat strip your finger normally rests on. The metal rim now sits proud of the glass, and it catches your finger during Android edge swipes. Tecno says it has reworked touch sensitivity and interface elements to compensate. In the hand it still needs work.

Look closely at the bottom and you can still see black bars

Small remnants of the bezel remain along the lower edge of the screen, visible if you’re paying attention. That’s normal for a prototype, but it means the 0mm claim is not quite literal yet.

No launch date exists, and Tecno hasn’t promised one

The phone was built in-house and it works, but Tecno is calling it a concept with no release plans. It feels slim and light, most likely because it shares its design and hardware with the recently announced Tecno Camon Slim. The company says the technology will feed into future flagships, which is the closest thing to a commitment on offer.
