Xiaomi 15 Ultra’s camera specs have surfaced, thanks to a leak on X, and I have to say, it’s a relief to finally get some clarity. With the Galaxy S25 series focusing more on software than actual camera hardware upgrades, Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship is now getting a lot of attention as a potential alternative.
The phone is expected to launch in China by the end of February, likely making its first appearance at MWC 2025. A global release may follow in early March, though that part is still speculation. We’ll have to wait for official confirmation from Xiaomi. In the meantime, tipster Yogesh Brar shared some details about the camera setup, and his leak aligns with earlier reports.
According to Brar, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will feature a quad-camera system with high-end sensors. Three of them are 50 MP, and one is a 200 MP periscope lens designed for zoom shots.
The main sensor is a 50 MP Sony LYT-900, a 1-inch flagship sensor, similar to what we’ve seen on the Oppo Find X7. This should produce some excellent images, given Sony’s reputation for top-tier mobile sensors.
The ultrawide camera is another 50 MP sensor, this time using Samsung’s ISOCELL JN5. While ultrawide performance still has room for improvement in smartphones, this combination could raise the bar for Xiaomi’s flagship lineup.
For zoom, Xiaomi 15 Ultra will stick to two telephoto lenses. The first is a 50 MP Sony IMX858 sensor with 3x optical zoom. The real highlight, though, is the 200 MP periscope telephoto camera with 4.3x zoom, using Samsung’s ISOCELL HP9 sensor. This is the same sensor found in the Vivo X200 Pro, which has already impressed with its zoom capabilities. If Xiaomi pulls this off, it could be a serious competitor in the zoom photography space, even against Samsung’s Ultra lineup.
MWC 2025 is right around the corner, and Xiaomi is set to unveil the 15 Ultra on February 26. I’m looking forward to seeing how well these camera specs translate to real-world performance.
