The Xiaomi Poco C75 has been out for a while, launching back in November 2024, and it has been standing alone in the Poco C series so far. But now, Xiaomi is preparing to launch its lower-end sibling, the Xiaomi Poco C71, which we’ve recently gotten some early details about.
A leak surfaced yesterday, and it looks like the main highlight of the Poco C71 is its design. The phone will feature a shiny Gold color, with a dual-tone finish and a camera island inspired by the iPhone 16. The back of the phone will be split into two shades of gold, giving it a glossy, eye-catching look. The Poco C71 will debut in one of the Asian markets soon, with a possible launch date of April 4th.
From what I’ve gathered, the Poco C71 will be quite different from the Poco C75 in terms of design. However, it may share some of the internals with the Redmi A5, as the Poco C71 was recently registered at the BIS certification authority, and there was speculation that it could be a rebranded Redmi A5.
If it’s true that the Poco C71 is based on the Redmi A5, we can expect a 6.88” IPS display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 720p resolution. The Redmi A5 was surprised with its 1500 nits HBM—a major improvement in IPS technology—but its performance was held back by the Unisoc T7250 (12 nm) chipset. The Poco C71 might face the same limitations in performance if it’s using the same chipset. It could come with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage in its top variant. At least there’s a 5200mAh battery, which should provide solid battery life for the Poco C71 as well.
The Redmi A5 also had 15W charging and a 32MP rear camera, so it’s likely the Poco C71 will feature similar specs. It seems that Xiaomi may position this phone as an entry-level model.
